Lunch 11 AM, Oct.14, Saddlerock Cafe, Council Grove, Ks

Post by schoolmaster »

Sorry fellas, my "other life" got in my way last week and I simply didn't have time to finalize a ride until this afternoon. I had a few minutes to work on a ride that was a little different but it just didn't pan out for next week so it's time to return to a perennial favorite. In looking at the forecast for next week, if we're going to stretch it out a little bit, then this may be the day to put on a few extra miles. Everyone loves the Saddlerock Cafe and Marsha was happy to have us. They are open for breakfast and switch over to lunch around 11. So if you want breakfast, plan accordingly and show up a little earlier than 11 for breakfast at the:

RIDE REPORT: Oct.14, Saddlerock Cafe, Council Grove, Ks

Post by schoolmaster »

I would like to bottle up these beautiful fall days and save a few of 'em for a couple of months from now when we could really use one now and then. This was a perfect day to be riding and the Kansas countryside didn't disappoint with the blue skies, fall colors and perfect temperatures. Hoser counted 37 motorcycles at one point in the parking lot, and because we had both breakfast and lunch eaters it was a little harder to keep track but I think it was in the neighborhood of 40 or so.

It was so nice outside that 20 -25 hung around outside and visited and then headed in gradually to replace to 15-20 breakfast eaters. As usual the food at the Saddlehorn Cafe didn't disappoint and we had the special room they had reserved for us pretty busy for about and hour and a half.

Thanks to a nice crowd that showed up today. Couldn't get much better than this. Great day to be a ROMEO. You will be in good hands for the next two weeks. Swanee is going to schedule the next two rides. I think he is putting me on probation for not getting anything scheduled until Sunday afternoon this last week! Have a great weekend and look forward to riding next Wednesday. Don't forget SE Kansas is riding to the Feed Lot Cafe in Blue Mound for lunch on Friday, if you're looking for a good way to begin the weekend.

They were ready for us, special room and all. Don't know whether they're being nice to us or keeping us away from their regular customers!

Last week I took a picture of a beautiful Valkyrie that Mick S. is trying to sell because he can't get his car in the garage. Today he showed up on another Valkyrie Interstate that he bought this week. Beautiful bike. But Mick, I'm kind of starting to see why your garage is a little crowded.

This picture was taken after quite a few had already left. We pretty much surrounded the Saddlehorn Cafe.

Hey Mick:

Great location, great day and a great time to be riding a motorcycle 8-) . You had people from the Wichita group, from the Southeast group, the Manhattan group and some from the KC group - now where else can you put such a great ride together :D :D . If Junior Wege reads this, the next time I see his wife Shirley, I am gonna tell her all about it. I think Crystal had a plan for Junior  , she sure seemed interested. All kidding aside, I had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the ride down KS177 to Cassoday and onward to Chanute. Glad to be a part of ROMEO's.
Drive now, talk later
