Guys -
Here's the place................................Hungry Mann's Cafe
220 E. Hwy. 56
Galva, Kansas 67443
620-654-3500
Terri Mann, Owner
Here's the time......................................11:00 am
Galva is located on US Highway 56 in McPherson, County, 5 miles east of the city of McPherson, 4 miles east of Interstate Highway 135. It's an ever-expanding bedroom community with two new housing developments, as well as a new park and new ball diamonds for baseball and softball. It's nearness to McPherson (5 mi.), Salina (32 mi.), Hutchinson (30 mi.), and Wichita (50 mi.) gives a quick and easy access to these cities and their shopping, recreation, and cultural events, yet allows living in a smaller, caring, quiet community. Although it's not mentioned in this short article gleaned from the internet, take time to drive around town and see all the newly paved streets in this small community. Certainly a model to be followed by towns many times its size. Now if it only could acquire some business for downtown.....maybe a grocer?
As always..............ride careful, ride safe and I'll see you in Galva. Richard

Guys - First, some shots from my camera phone. I know the're not the best of quality but I know how to use it....mostly!
We did have a nice crowd here today didn't we. I have 38 that signed the attendance book but I know there must have been one or two who got away prior to registering. Who knows, you just might miss the door prize when you fail to register. We have been know to give away great gifts like a washer and dryer on ocassion. That would put you in good stead with the missus now wouldn't it! I didn't have such a gift prepared today but who knows, I just may have one of these days.
This was the first Wednesday of the month so I had my duty to do in attending the Sr. center Board meeting today so I had arranged the meal in a close by location. By all accounts, it was quite well accepted and the food was exceptional. So was the turnout. I left the meeting at 10:30 and was over in Galva in about 20 minutes. When I arrived, the parking lot was nearly full. At least all the prime parking spots were.
Joyce didn't want to wait on me to get out of the meeting because the time was uncertain as most meetings are, so she hopped on her little Yellow 50cc eTon Beamer II and headed on over ahead of me. With the rev limiter clipped, the little yellow beast can make quick time of a short trip. She had already arrived by the time I got there and had the sign up sheet in process. It's good to have a helper on days like this. I wish I could just get her to take the riders course so she could take my bigger scoot on some of these rides but she is perfectly satisfied just riding in back. It's OK with me having her back there. She's a good passenger and I hardly even know she's there until I get a good jab in the kidney now and then as she perceives that I may have endangered her now and then as I lose focus on matters at hand like gawking when I should be looking or taking a curve to fast and dragging a floorboard. Little things like that.
This place today is an old cafe with recent new owners. I thought they did a bang up job of getting us fed and out. With a fried chicken buffet the meals went rather quickly and service was exceptional. Nick however almost got us thrown out of the place and I had to ask him to vacate the cafe for a time and count bikes so the poor little waitress could get a rest. He had her in a twit believe you me. If Nick's wife happens to read this, it was all in good taste and humor and he was a perfect gentleman. WINK, WINK!
Glad to see all you guys today. There were some new names that I didn't recognize so when you see me again, make it a point to introduce yourself. Don't be bashful, sometimes I get too involved in taking pictures and things of that nature to concentrate on the really important stuff like getting acquainted.
Hey, if you don't see yourself on any of the shots today, it's because if earth tremmors...or I may have moved while taking the shot blurring all detail. And that's being kind! Actually a good number of my shots were just CRAP!
Thank goodness for a seasoned photographer....take a peak at what Pat can do below!
