South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, June 15, 12:00 Noon

Post by roginoz »

In looking at the sign-in book, it appears that we haven’t been to Carolyn’s for about six months. It’s a favorite place for many of us, and I think it merits a return visit. The food is good, and the service has always been friendly. Carolyn’s is only about sixty-five miles from Wichita: a nice ride for the local group, and we may see a few of the Hutchinson area riders.

Carolyn’s has a web page (http://www.carolynsessenhaus.com/home.htm) in case you’d like to browse the menu. (It seems strange for a place where everything’s homemade and is kind of old fashioned, but I guess we’re all living in the computer age…)

TIME:
12:00 Noon, Wednesday, June 15

PLACE:
Carolyn's Essenhaus
104 E. Main St.
Arlington, KS
620-538-4711

MAP:
Roger Shores has, or will soon have, a map up at the following link:

Good Riding Weather Tomorrow!

The Weather Channel is calling for eighty-three degrees at noon, with no chance of rain, and wind at only eight miles per hour. Even if you're not hungry, you couldn't ask for better riding weather.

Well after 4 weeks of rain and one of 102 degrees, we are do a nice Wednesday again. Arlington is a favorite for many ROMEO's, good food and nice people.
If you would like to join in on a group ride, a few of us (the old B group), will be leaving from the parking lot of Zach's car wash, located one block east of
21st street and 119th street west, at 10:15 am sharp. We plan on taking a meandoring 2-lane blacktop way over, coming in from the south into Arlington.
Hopefully we won't get too lost.....

A fantastic day for a ride. We had a very enjoyable meandoring route over to Arlington. There looked to be a good turn out, with lots of
bikes already filling the street when we got there, and boy the fried chicken and home made pie were as delicious as always, Ummmmm !!

I don't know if it was the improved weather, or the prospect of lunch at Carolyn's, but we had a great turnout. At least twenty-five bikes and twenty-seven people. We more than filled the back room; fortunately, Bob and Ron are well mannered enough to mix with the "normal" folks in the front dining area. Good food and quick service, as always. We had time to BS and look at bikes both before and after lunch. Cary rode out on his brand new black ST1300; it's good to see him back on the road. I noticed groups leaving in different directions, so it appears that there was some sightseeing on the way home. I enjoyed riding along Arlington Road back to Haven, watching the wheat harvest in progress.
