Been going south a lot lately so it's about time we went a different direction, to a place a little farther away (for some anyway) but not so far that only electrified riders can get there in December. Two out of three forecasts I looked at predict sunny with a high near 60 so I'm hoping a bunch of us can make it. Last time we went to Rose's was July so whatever we get the weather will at least be be different
Breakfast is served until 10:30. Rose requested breakfast eaters get inside closer to 10:00 and get their orders in. At 10:30 they switch over to lunch including (but not limited to) their ever-popular reasonably priced meat loaf special. Whether your appetite is breakfast or lunch we'll see ya at:

Any thoughts on changing the meeting times during the winter months from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm? If you only live 30 miles from the average ride location, its no big deal. But for some of us that have to ride longer distances, it means departing shortly after sunrise when temperatures are still around freezing. Sure we have electric jacket liners. However, it would be a much more enjoyable ride if we scheduled the time after the lunch rush when temperature are at there high point of the day. I understand our intent is to not interfere with the local lunch crowd. With attendance lower during the winter months, ROMEOs would still arrive on their own schedule. Just a couple hours later.

Ken you have a point there. We mainly just "reign in" the locations distance-wise so they're not far from the Topeka-Lawrence vicinity but that doesn't help people who live farther away.
OTOH some people want to have the lunch over with by noon so they can do more riding if it's nice or have the afternoon for something else if not. I'm not sure what the consensus would be on that.
We've been lucky so far this fall but pretty soon it probably won't matter because it'll be too cold for just about everybody to ride and those who do show up will be mostly "RODEOs" on 4 wheels. Hopefully Mick will be back to scheduling the rides soon and if he feels like changing from the "traditional" time he can do that. It would also depend on the particular eatery and whether they would want us coming in later.
A great turnout for a day about as nice as you could ask for in December. Started out a bit chilly but then turned picture perfect with a high well into the 60's! The Hoser count was 38 bikes and there were enough people to keep the small staff at Rose's pretty busy. But from what I heard (One townie actually called her when he saw the bikes to see if any food was left!) they were well-prepared and didn't run out.
Mick took a picture of the temperature on the bank sign in July. It was an unseasonably cool & comfortable 72 that morning. Today I'm pretty sure we came within a few degrees of that in the afternoon. Truly amazing these "great days to be a ROMEO" have just kept on coming. Oh, and there should still be one more in Pleasanton on Friday if you haven't gotten enough!

For the few who didn't take time to diss the (admittedly awful) graphics on my "bargain" full-face helmet here's your chance.
Kieth rolling in on his Indian
So rumors of an "Indian" attack were true--in a manner of speaking. The cavalry didn't show but the Marines were all over it.
This very visible pair were already done eating breakfast before very few of us even arrived. They had more riding to do--understandable.
Then Roger came rolling in shortly afterward.
The place started filling up fast.
We definitely kept this lady busy bringing out food.
Nice bike Herm's got there--this "long" version of the Honda ST got many admiring looks today.
GREAT to see Harold Jr. back in the saddle, who came in with his better half on this new CanAm.
Harold actually earned his Iron Butt tag on a bike that wasn't anywhere near this big and comfy!
Great looking retro colors on this big Indian...and some serious fringe too.
56 is fantastic for December but the actual high this afternoon was closer to 66!
