LANE CAFE Breakfast or lunch 10:30 sounds like a reasonable time. ;)
417 Kansas Ave
Lane, KS
785-869-2400

Check them out on the web https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lane-Caf ... 8101390833

This is a little further into Kansas than we usually go, so I asked Bucky if he minded and he said "of course not, go ahead" :D

Here is the link to all scheduled Romeo Rides:

Leland said he had heard this place was a good place to eat and I ought to check it out. So why don't you just come along with me and we can all check it out together. I talked to Jana, one of the owners and she was thrilled to have the opportunity to serve us. The weather is improving, hopefully some of us can ride. This is not far for Leland, but it will be a sizable ride for Denny. But the forecast is the best we have had, so lets dust off those bikes and see if they will still run.

Hope you can make it Tuesday.

What no RATTLESNAKE!!!
Last week I heard about the World's Biggest Rattlesnake Rodeo in Sweetwater, TX. This weekend. The weather looked great, in Texas, so off I went. It was fascinating and if you want to look at my pictures and videos, here is a link. I didn't take time to edit so take the good with the bad. ):

Some interesting history from Lane, KS (formerly Shermanville) the stone house across Kansas Street as you come in on 4th street. The house is mentioned in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s On the Way Home: The Diary of a Trip from South Dakota to Mansfield, Missouri, in 1894. She and her husband, Almanzo, and their daughter, Rose, reached the town of Lane 118 years ago this month.http://dianastaresinicdeane.wordpress.c ... e-in-lane/

Whow!! I haven't seen this many ROMEOs gathered north of TEXAS in a very long time. I always get a thrill when I see so many folks gather for a Romeo event. For a short time my thermometer showed 82 degrees :o I hope you had a good time and a good ride. The Lane cafe had some unique light fixtures. When this John Deere tractor pulled up some mistakenly thought it sounded like a Harley  I didn't go overboard on pictures today, because Bob K was here and he does such a good job. Hopefully, his will appear below, shortly.

Lil' Town Cafes in Lil' Town. It is the goal of the Romeo Ride Leaders to arrange breakfasts/lunches in town with populations of less than 1000 to enjoy some good home cooking. Because our numbers have gotten to be so big this becomes more difficult. You are the greatest folks and I get very very few complaints. Lane has a population of 212 and if the Lane Cafe had twelve customers on a regular day it would be a big day. :o Yes, we like to help the small towns but when we descend on a place like the Lane Cafe with 80+ it may not be a good thing for them or us. As usual you were the polite nice folks I have grown to care a lot about. I was very pleased when Eastern Kansas joined us today and I wouldn't have changed that, but it doubled our numbers. I loved it and I was excited by the large number of bikes, friends I haven't seen for a couple of months or longer, a beautiful day, a neat little town with a lots of history, but it is above and beyond to ask two of you to wait 45 minutes for a piece of pie. and I am sure there are worse stories and I do apologize. I just want you to know I do care and understand. This, I hope, was an exception that I hope you enjoyed as much as I did. And remember my goal is always to give you good food at fair prices, good service and good riding. If today was not to your liking best give us another try.

We could not have asked for a nicer day for a ride, I heard a bike count of 72, they kept rolling in!

First thing as I hit town I had to check out the historic house.

We really swamped them today, it took a good while to get your food but most waited patiently. The staff were real troopers.

What a great day! The Lane Café was a little overwhelmed, but there were so many of us I imagine most places would have been, also. So good to see everyone, even though we sure missed Mick and that new Indian! I'll just add a few crowd pictures.

There were better pictures of the light fixtures, but I thought they were very interesting.

Roger,

Looks like you all had a great day to get together in Lane.

I'm in Texas riding The Hill Country and happened to be in Luckenbach, TX this afternoon. As I'm standing around I notice this guy walking towards me who looks similar to Junior. Then I notice that he walks similar to Junior. Then I see he has a T-shirt with Engle Motors on the front. So I say, "are you a ROMEO?" Well, of course it is Junior, so we talk awhile and in that conversation we talk about you and decide you are a pretty good guy. So we take a picture and decide you need to see it.

Hello from Greg and Junior from Luckenbach.
