New Romeo Riders Web Site

Post by JerryM100 »

Just wanted to let you all know I updated the main web site. I think most people have a bookmark or just type in the address to our web site (http://www.romeoriders.com) and come straight here to the forums (http://www.romeoriders.com/forums). That means they don't ever see the web site, which is ok because it never really changes. The main web site is really for new people who find us through Google and want to know what we are about. It has a few articles but basically directs them here to the forums.

But in case you wanted to check it out I just created a new web site that replaces the old one. You can check it out at http://www.romeoriders.com or just click on the "Home" link above.

Let me know what you think. I am in a mood to make some changes so let me know!

Temp Note: I changed the web site about 5 pm on Monday, Nov 4. It may take a day or two for the changes to take effect in the DNS (domain name system) and all the search engines so you may not see it right away. If you want to see the new web site the direct link is http://www.romeoriders.com/wp.

Thank you, Bucky, appreciate it. I have an idea. The more I read about this Internet stuff the more I realize you can do anything if you read enough. There is a way that I can change that photo at the top to different scenes every time you look at the page. I am not quite satisfied with that photo I put up there now. I would really like to have some good pics of some Kansas roads and highways. Or even Missouri or Texas. I might even include some roads in England if someone was to send me some cool aviation videos or photos of Turkey with them. :D

So I would like to ask everyone who reads this to either post one of their pics on my thread here or email it to me. Or take a shot of your buddy going down the road. Or something creative. I will crop your photos to fit the wide banner at the top and include yours in the rotation. We need to spice this place up a little!

Jerry

For example, here is a photo I found browsing around Google images. But I need some photos that are better than this one.

Replaced those crummy pics with a slideshow. Ks, Ne, Ohio,Romeo rides, Valkyrie club rides, western Ks, Rulo bridge, etc, etc. Kinda shook em up and dumped them out. Hoser

Thanks for the contributions, Hoser. Those are some nice pics - creative. Let's see who else has some pics to contribute. Maybe we'll have a vote for the best one!

Here is a good example of what I am looking for for the web site and the forums. Don sent this by email to me so I copied it up here.

That is a great picture except for one little thing - there is no motorcycle in it! The picture needs to represent what the web site and forums are about - riding our motorcycles in the mid-western countryside.

So here's what I wish someone would do. Find a particularly scenic stretch of highway and have a buddy ride ahead and stop with his camera. Then you ride by slowly as he steps into the road behind you and takes a quick pic or two of you going down the highway. Or your buddy could stand in the middle of the highway and get some pics of you coming at him. Could be into the sunset (or sunrise), with a bridge, some cows, something interesting. Could be a couple of bikes staggered in the lane. But I probably don't want half a dozen bikes because that looks like that's the way we ride and we don't. Most people ride by themselves or with a couple of buddies.

So somebody get creative and find some good roads and take some pics!

It looks much better without the motorcycle. Not much better in life than a good road, nice weather and a good view.

I appreciate that, Roger, but it's not very 'mid-western' looking. Not many people other than you recall that was me on my Vstrom 650 in July 2011 on the Alaska Highway just south of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.

But Tom has a good idea. If guys have good pics of bikes going down the road I could do a series of those in a rotating banner.

Here is a good pic sent to me by "Sweet William" with the Romeos in the Rio Grand Valley.

My wife and I rode this road in 2002 on an EDELWEISS Best of Europe Tour. I found this video on the internet. Brings back memories! Only we rode it on a BMW K1200LT. :D :D

This is my favorite but not a picture of any road, more of a trail but it is in Kansas and I, of course, had a BLAST!
