It’s been five months since we’ve been to the Main Street Café in Durham; the weather was miserable last November, and the turnout was a little slim. (I can’t remember if we even had any motorcycles show up.) I've been wanting to get us back up there, and last Wednesday Gen. Bob asked if we could go; great minds thinking alike, or perhaps it was a sign... (Or maybe just a joint hankering for some of that baked homemade sausage.) I'm hoping for better riding conditions and more riders next Wednesday; it looks like the weather may cooperate. We live in Kansas, though, so we won’t know until time to leave Wednesday morning. If it’s too cold or wet there’s always the option of driving. (The meal is worth the trip.) The lunch special on Wednesday is bierocks, and they have their baked homemade sausage every day.
If you haven't been, Durham is on K-15, north and east of Newton. It's a nice ride, about an hour and a quarter from Wichita (64 miles.)

Re: South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, April 18, 11:00 AM
Well, it took a tornado to get Woody out to lunch (storm damage at work...) but it picked a good day.
We had thirty-nine people sign in, riding a total of 2508 miles one-way to Durham. I think a few may have missed the book, and a few more were arriving as we left.
Excellent food (especially the baked sausage and homemade rolls.) Gen Bob lead a good sized group to Skoops for dessert, and Steve, Mark, and I followed a bit later.
Mark's Ducati threw its chain on the ride home, about halfway between Newton and Wichita on Old 81 Hwy. A quick trip home for the pickup and ramps, and we had it back to Mulvane without further problems. (Except the little red ticks Mark found in that nice shady spot on the side of the road...)
The weather for next Wednesday looks exceptional, so we may try for a bit longer ride. Stay tuned for the announcement
Also, save May 9 for a special ride - details to follow in a couple of weeks.
