Smaller towns please. That was the original idea of this function.

That's strange, I've been going on these rides for most of 10 years now. I always thought it was about having a good ride, a meal and conversation with some friends, new or old.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is a great thing if we can give a small town cafe a boost, and that is where we have the bulk of our rides. Believe me, it is not the easiest thing in the world to keep things balanced the way all the riders would like. Sometimes the ride coordinator just has to take an easy sure thing.

I am not familiar with what is available in your general area, but I do know that Richard is blessed in his area with a much wider choice of small town places to go to. The tendency in the North East is the small town places are disappearing at an alarming rate. Often the towns are left with no restaurant or a small snack spot that could not deal with our groups. Sometimes it is a challenge just to know who is still in business.

If you don't like the place John picked for you, know that you are always welcome to join us, Richards group or ride a day early and go to K.C. Enjoy the ride, where ever it takes you.

Well , Well, Looks like we have someone that is going to plan all of our rides now .
Joe, We need someone that can make all the schedual's. John Is saying that December the 31st. is his last day. And Roger is too busy to make most of the rides.
And i have had my turn at the wheel. So it sounds like your the man that we have been looking for. I have the book of address's and will gladly turn it over to you at your convenience. Bob

Most of the time we are in small towns. It doesn't hurt to go somewhere like Newton or El Dorado (still a heck of a lot smaller than where I live) once in a while to a good restaurant. The "small town places" aren't always in small towns. I dealt with restaurant operators for a good deal of my professional life, and I can tell you that all of them struggle to keep afloat, regardless of their location. (They work a lot harder than I'd want to.)

John tries to rotate directions (north of Wichita, south, east, west) week to week (as I did, and Bob before me.) This sometimes limits the choices. (We really need some more places down south.) And, sometimes, the guy scheduling has other things in his life to attend to and needs something fairly quick. Suggestions for destinations are always welcome.

Bob: I really think I'm going to make the next couple of rides before leaving town again. (Gotta have some of that Pepper Pot soup in Newton...)

Hmmm, nice first post! Welcome aboard. While were airing our grievances , I'd like to see more weekend rides since I'm not retired! ;-)

By the way, Brunin's has re-opened in Andale by the daughters of the recently passed owner!! They could use your support I'm sure! Great breakfast there for sure....

Carry on old chaps! Lol...
