South Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, November 3, 12:00 Noon

Post by roginoz »

I had planned to set up a ride for Hillsboro, but I couldn’t make contact with the restaurant (Old Towne,) or even find out if they were still in business. If anyone has current information, let me know. Plan B: We’ve been east and south a bit, so we might as well head back north and west to an old favorite.

Carolyn’s, in Arlington, is a favorite place for many of us. It’s been a few months since we’ve been there, and even longer since we’ve been there for lunch.

I checked with Carolyn’s, and they’ll have space for us (probably in the back room) at noon. It’s only about sixty-five miles from Wichita: a nice ride for the local group, and we’ll probably see a good number of the Hutchinson area riders and maybe some of the North Central folks.

TIME:
12:00 Noon, Wednesday, November 3

PLACE:
Carolyn's Essenhaus
104 E. Main St.
Arlington, KS
620-538-4711

Nineteen people, on eighteen bikes. It looks like the Oxford Boys came the farthest, over 100 miles, two of them on KLRs. (Ron is smiling as he reads this...) It was a little cool heading out, but warmed up nicely for the trip home. The north wind was a little stiff, but it was still a good day to ride. I think we're heading east next week; stay tuned for a ride announcement in the next couple of days.

40 miles to Arlington, 240 miles to get back home.
By the time I got to Alva OK, the wind was blowing 25 to 40.
I couldn’t pass up a chance to ride a little extra with the temperature at 72 degrees in November.
