lunch 1-1-09

Post by Klem »

Bucky's suggestion and there has been a rousing chorus of one to have a new years day lunch. I checked and we had a choice of places and Bucky picked th one I would, closest to the house. So lets do it.

Lunch 1-1-09
Club Four Corners
Scranton Ks.

As most of you know this is not in Scranton but at the intersection of Highways 75 and 56 on the south west corner.

I have been checking the weather and it says no snow or rain between now and then. However it will be 25 degrees the night before and warming to a possible 44 degrees. This translates to about 28-30 degrees when its time to leave and probably about 40 when it's time to leave the restaurant.

If you ride dress warm and be careful. Otherwise come in your car and make fun of Bucky and Dave.

Location is South of Topeka on Highway 75 at the intersection of Highway 56. The restaurant is on the Southwest corner and sits back off the road with a bunch of other old buildings.

Nice day for a ride, even if it was a little breezy and cool (could have been worse). It was good to see you all there and we had a good lunch and conversation.

I remembered to bring the camera and then actually remembered to get it out and take some pics. So below is the evidence of the guilty parties who braved the elements to risk their lives once again on the first day of a whole new year of riding opportunities.

Here is a GPS track log of our ride today. I started in Overland Park and rode down to Olathe to meet up with Chris and Don (Hamblin). From there we rode hw 56 out to Four Corners. After lunch we rode to Lawrence to visit some of their friends for a while. Then rode hwy 32 back to K-7, south to K-10 and then to our respective homes.

The total ride for me according to the GPS track log was 146 miles. For Don it was about 196 miles since it is 25 miles from his place in Lee's Summit to my place (eastern Kansas City).

We were gonna ride straight home and watch some football, but after leaving the parking lot, we decided to ride thru Topeka to 24 highway, then to Lawrence. We stopped at The Slow Ride for some tea before we went to the house..
