South Central/North Central Lunch Ride: Wednesday, September 11 , 11:00 AM

Post by roginoz »

Next week is the fall (well, maybe really late summer) ROMEO Rendezvous in Marble Falls, Arkansas. A number of us will be at the Marble Falls Resort (formerly the Hub) next Wednesday. For those who aren't able to make the trip, Marty and I have scheduled a joint North/South ride at an old favorite lunch location.

In the past we'd gone to Yoder for joint rides, but the State Fair is next week: not the best time to ride K-96 or try to get a seat at the Carriage Crossing. Instead, we'll be going to Newton, to Gurty's. We've always had good food and service there, and it's in-between the North Central and South Central areas. Gurty's is more than just a burger place; the menu is pretty extensive. Still, the burgers and onion rings seem to be the hot ticket. There's dessert, too, if you have any room after lunch.

Newton is only 27 miles from Wichita; not much of a ride if the day's nice, but we all know that there's always a long way around to anywhere.

Gurty's doesn't open until 11:00, but the early risers can hang out in the parking lot and kick tires.

If you'd like to go to the Fall Rendezvous, but haven't made arrangements, details are available by clicking on the following link: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=5792

Also: Special thanks to Charlie for scheduling rides while I was out of town..

It was a warm and windy afternoon. For those ROMEOs who weren't galavanting around Arkansas, by my count, 33 showed up to Gurty's Burgers in Newton. There may have been more who didn't sign the book as late-comers just kept rolling in. If my ciphering is correct, they logged 1542 miles on 30 bikes. Longest distance rider today was Galen Seehofer @ 129 miles.
