Hi Everyone!
This summer, myself and a few of my riding buddies from this area are heading to Sturgis for a Last Hoorah (before we are too old or until the next last one). We are leaving this area on Sunday, August 2nd and arriving in Rapid City on Monday, August 3rd. We will be stay 4 nights and leaving on Friday, August 7th. The official opening of the 2026 Sturgis Rally is on Friday, August 7th. So yes, we are leaving on the day it opens. I have gone many times the week before and I feel like it works out great. We will miss about 500,000 close friends, miss the high dollar concerts that I am too old for, and we miss the hill climbing races, but nothing else. All the vendors are set up in Sturgis and across the area, demo rides are going on, the beautiful riding is still going, all the area attractions are still there, and there is a lot to do. It is still busy, but nothing like the following week. We will be staying in dorm rooms at South Dakota School of Mining Technology in Rapid City. We have 3 rooms reserved for 4 nights, and each room will have 4 private bedrooms and a shared bathroom. The cost is considerably cheaper than anyplace you can stay or camp at. If we have 12 people, the cost will be $269.52 per person total for all 4 nights and it includes a great breakfast each morning. The college provides linens, a blanket, a pillow, and towels. We are able to park close in a well lit parking lot and we will have access to the amenities of the college. The college has regular security and we have never had any kind of issues. The rooms have to be paid by May 1st and there is no refunds. Sheldon Woolery has reserved 1 room and I have 2 rooms reserved. We will be paying for the rooms this week. As of today, we have 10 people committed and paid for, so we only have 2 beds available. If any of you would like to join us, just call me or touch base at one of the breakfast/lunch events and I can give you more details. Once we have 2 more committed and paid for, that will be it.
