North Central Kansas Weekly Ride 11/11/21

Looking at the weather for next week Wednesday looks a little shaky. They're talking about 55% chance of rain. Thursday is looking slightly cooler but much better on the rain front. So making an executive decision I set us up on Thursday with an oldie but a goodie. Our last trip to Hope left us with precious little hope. John Crandall blew a tire and a few of us didn't make it all the way. All was not lost though. Kai Sayson took up the slack and got some good pictures, while the rescue party got John back and we had lunch back in Salina.
We had a visitor at the world peace summit this morning. Our old friend Leonard Williams was in town from Georgia and he joined us to help solve the worlds problems. It was great to see him again. Whenever I had a problem with a British bike I could always count on Leonard to bail me out. In addition to addressing the weightier issues of the day I learned the Bruce Shields and I both owned the same make, model and year of car in our younger years. A 1963 Ford Fairlane 4 door sedan, with a 260 V8. I'm not sure of the color of Bruce's but mine was red with a white top, and a red interior. Since that car I swore I would NEVER have another red car. So far I've been able to keep that vow. We both agreed that the car's performance was somewhat less than stellar. I also had a habit of breaking rear leaf springs. But I digress. Our trip to hope should be a little over a half hour so we will launch from the Rodeway Inn @ 10:15.
