I did some serious digging through the archives and was coming up dry. Either these places were not open or non existent. Then it hit me. We haven't been to Susank for a few years, and I've been looking for a good day for that ride. Next Wednesday looks like that day. :D The weather is supposed to be in the high 70s and sunny. A great day to throw some extra miles on the bike.

It looks like the forecast is holding for tomorrow. The trip maps out to an hour and a half, so we will launch from the Quality Inn@ 10:30.

TIME....................12:00

This weeks ride was one for the books. Fall is the best riding time. No mud or volatility on the weather. Mild temps and little wind. That was the description of this Wednesday. It was also a good opportunity to try out my latest toy. A Magellan Meridian GPS. It's not a unit that I'm unfamiliar with, however it is an older unit that is no longer in production. I've been shopping around for a hand held unit that will accept user defined routes. Apparently that concept is out of vogue and all I could find are units that choose the route for you and if you don't like it, tough. Another thing is they all talk to you. I hate machines that talk to you! :x I had a version of this GPS that lasted 15 years before it died, and this one was advertised as new. I can't verify that it is, but if it is used it wasn't used much. At any rate I pulled the trigger and gambled $40 on it. I programed the route into it and put it into my custom made tank mount for my bike and took off for Susank. It performed flawlessly. It took me to the doorstep of the restaurant in Susank and led me back home. Now the only issue I have is weather the 15 year old mapping software will run in my Windows 10 computer. If not I have a Windows 98 computer in my garage that I can plug in to.

I went a little excessively snap happy on this ride. I took 61 pictures and the post will only accept 50. So you will find the rest of the pictures in a reply at the very bottom of the post for this ride. All in all it was a great day for a ride.

Weather permitting the roadway should be opened by October 22, 2021. Motorists are advised to allow a few extra minutes of travel time to reach their destinations.
