Wednesday North Central ROMEO Lunch Ride for 5-14-14
Posted: Fri May 09, 2014 6:14 pm
Guys - The weather guru says it's going to be mild and in the low 70's for our ride next week. Small chance of wind....OK, we'll test him on that one, and he adds, a few lingering clouds. What do they mean by lingering? No wind might be my guess. We'll see!
If this all pans out as they say, it could be a most memorable ride. It's near and dear to our friends down south so we'll see how many of them show up. In the past, we have filled the place and even the picnic tables outside. Sounds like a lazy day kind of thing coming on, huh? A couple of cycle shops are nearby as well so after lunch it's the place many of us will be heading for.
Here's the time.............................12:30 pm
Here's the place.........................Bull's Eye Grill
3408 East Red Rock Rd.
Yoder, Kansas
(620) 465-2855
As always.................ride careful, ride safe and I'll see you in Yoder. Richard

Guys - It was such a nice day that I just took my time coming home. I'm now off to church so I'll post some pics and a story after I get back. Thanks to all that came today. The unofficial count was 36 but I know there were a few that had failed to sign. Be sure to check the added comment below about our friend Reggie who recently had a stroke and is in Wesley Hospital in Wichita. I know that you will keep him in your prayers.
Today was nearly perfect riding weather for those who live anywhere North of Yoder because the wind nearly pushed us along. What a joy it is to ride on days like this. If one tarries long enough, it's also possible to return in near stillness as the wind subsides as the day passes which is why we regularly hit a cycle shop or and ice cream parlor to kill some time.
Unbelievably, the guys again let me lead aftr the fiasco of last week when I got totally lost once again. This time somehow I ended up just North of Yoder when in fact I didn't have a clue as to where I was but things worked out so magnificently that nobody had a clue I was lost again. Prayer does help!
We arrived to a full parking lot in downtown Yoder with an array of bikes that would make some major rallys envious. I don't have a list of the makes this time as I usually do because I was curious as to what kind of engines would predominate although I had a good idea, and had requested a count as to the number of cylinders on the sign in sheet. As expected, twins or 2 cylinder bikes dominated. But I did notice a parallel twin thrown in with some V twins. There were a couple of sixes here and there from the Gold Wingers and of course some 4's as well but here's where things got a bit murky. We had inline fours, a transverse V-4 and flat 4's and one where I knew it had to be a 4 but darn if I had a clue to how you could tell 'cause I didn't know where to even look. Then there were singles. Air cooled types and water cooled ones as well. I'm still at a loss though as to what category to stick Randy Dyers 1.5.
Things broke up sooner than I got around today but I wanted to acknowledge long distance today. Bryan Spurlock from Junction City won long distance with 130 miles. Bryan, tap me on the shoulder next ime you see me and I'll present you with one of our coveted "Long Distance Awards", hand made by yours truly. Your wife will covet it for years! On the other end of the scale, short distance was nearly tied. Phil Clark came all of 5 miles from Hutch while Lin Bontrager rode one mile further to record 6. Great to have everyone come out today regardless of the miles. It's not only the ride but the fellowship!
Now for some pics........oh, and I just learned that if you click onto the pic it will enlarge a bit.
