Tuesday North Central ROMEO Lunch Rde for 12-03-13

Guys - You may have thought I had learned a lesson a couple weeks ago when my idea of outguessing the weather guru turned south on me early in the week. Well, I guess I am just pushing the envelope so to speak because I'm 'gonna try it again in hopes it won't happen the same way twice.
Actually this is 'Big Jim's week so I may just blame it on him if things don't go right. Aww, you say, you wouldn't do that to Big Jim would 'ya. In a heartbeat!
Actually 'BJ' is out of town in parts unknown but is expected back at any time but the website notice can't wait so I cleared it with him beforehand so he knows all about it!
Here's the deal. Wednesday, has been our usual day, like forever, but is expected to be a bad (read..very cold) day and the weather guy says both monday and tuesday will be the best days of the week. Both are forecast to be in the 60's. Monday being the warmest of the two but that's not much time for folks to come to the website here and find out where we're going especially when they are used to planning on wednesday.
So....it falls naturally to Tuesday which still happens to be in the 60's and some folks are sure to have picked up on the change from Wednesday to the Tuesday date. See how perfect a plan I've devised here for you guys?
So....lookee what we have going............
Here's the time...................................12:30 pm
Here's the day....................................Tuesday
Here's the place..........................Coachlight Restaurant
114 Weda St.
Longford, Ks. 67458
785-388-2437
As always...........................ride careful, ride safe and I'll see you in Longford. Richard
Now, as many of you already know, we always seem to make a side trip after every lunch in Longford over to Russell Stover for ice cream or candy. Or both!
Also be aware that I have a brand new batch of ROMEO shirts but I don't like to haul my entire inventory around with me when I end up selling very few so if you want one in a certain size, just email me back or put a note here on this posting for me to bring such an such a size and consider it done. If I fail, I'll send it to you postage paid. What a guy, huh!

Guys - I'm happy to report that we won the weather challenge this time. O'l man winter got ditched today. In fact a couple of guys with thermometers on their bikes said it was 68 on one bike and the other read 66. I took the average of the two and came up with a remarkable 67 degrees. Not only that, but the wind wasn't blowing. That's right, the flag was hanging limp as if it were indoors. What a great day all around.
It wasn't a record turnout day but we did have 13 attend as well as the trusty mascot Leo. Leo's not included in the tally but he probably should be since he has attended so many of these lunches.
Normally, we arrive at Longford on a wednesday and we all know the special for the day is smothered burrito but today we just had to change our palate and deal with a huge chicken fried steak. Yeah, it was goooood! And the green beans were right from the farm. Fresh and delicious!
I shot a few pics and settled down for lunch and before I knew it, guys were getting up, paying up and heading off. Fun doesn't last long at some of the lunches anymore. Maybe they still had house guests left over from Thanksgiving. Why get in such a hurry when pie that big is only $2.00.
Not for me, Bob or Denny though. We skedaddled on over to Russell/Stovers to check out their supply of bloopers. That's Russell/Stover speak for 2nds. It doesn't affect the taste one tiny bit but it surely does decrease the cost. Check it out next time you're over there. Actually, from what I remember from the past times I've been there, their blooper room seemed to have been pretty well picked over. Probably from folks preparing for Thanksgiving. I probably saw not more than 25 or 30 pallets in the back room. just a pittance from what's usually stacked back there. Naturally I felt it my duty to help eleviate some of the spoilage. Really, the stuff is perfectly edible, it's just not as pretty as what you might find in the boxes. They eat up just as good though! I appologize for calling it spoilage!
It was in the parking lot here that we noticed the flag hanging limp as we entered and it was here when we were preparing to leave for home that we caught a faint drift of wind from the North that ruffled the flag. Denny and Bob decided to head on back to Hutch having had too nice a day to have it spoiled with a possible cold front catching them out befor they got home. We headed West and filled up at Flying J next to the Harley shop and I presented both Denny and Bob identical award for long distance today. Each reported 108 smiles to lunch. Boy will their wives be proud of the new washer/dryer they will find under the tree come Christmas time.
Here are a few shots of the day...........I'm sorry if you don't find yourself in one of the pics. My camera skills failed me again on a few shots today. However, I have a couple swell shots of my fingerprint.
