Wednesday North Central ROMEO Lunch Ride for7-17-13

Guys - Here's one we missed every week of last year for some unknown reason. In fact the last time I recall being there was a couple years ago when Dale and his wife went down a ditch on the way over and had a wreck in his sidecar ending up in the hospital and spent literally weeks on the mend. A mechanical problem was a cause of the wreck if I recall. Seems a wheel on the sidecar gave way somehow and sent them into an unavoidable serious right turn. That'l do it!
Anyway, everybody seems to like this place. The town's population still hovers around 500 and now the're down to this last eating place, the other one on the corner folded up a couple years ago. If anyone thinks it's not tough going in these little towns, they're just not paying attention!
I called just a few minutes ago having lost my notes about this little town and was met with a wonderous welcome. The time they open in the morning is eleven and they said that that time would be a perfect time to come.
Several different ways to get there but I usually just meander my way taking my time on some of the roads I know so well around here. I think I'll probably take my sidecar and travel the same road that Dale did years ago just for old times sake.

Guys - We finally got a big one in! By that I mean we just practically filled up the place. There was some upstairs seating but that was about all. The day was just a delight being cool and comfortable and not much wind. You don't get 'em like this verry often particularly in July in Kansas.
The meal some thought was slow and a couple left before eating but the majority hung in there and once under way, the plates just kept coming out. I didn't see how many took the chilli dog special but my hamburgler was fantastic. And the onion rings.......out of this world!
Several of us started out to retrace Dale's accident route but we relented to the wishes of another rider of how should we say this diplomatically.....of age and took highway 4 dropping down at the mule farm. I enjoy seeing these critters and was watching one to my dear demise nearly missing the turn at the corner. Just as we turned, here came the Salina guys right behind us and we all rode in together. They definitely knew we were in town today!
No day is complete without ice cream so after lunch, a quick trip to Marquette was in order and the Sundry Shope served me up a wonderful Butterscotch Sundae topped with whipped cream and nuts. All for the rediculous price of a buck eight nine. Had to be a pricing error!
Let's see if I can get some of the photos I shot to come up....
Ooops - Can't get my photos to load! Don't know what I've done now!
Hey they just magically appeared when I tried loading them while on my yahoo mail site! Suppose that had something to do with it?
Oops, 'bout forgot.....long distance for the day goes to Kenny Strause from Enterprisee recording 93 miles over for lunch. Good on 'Ya Kenny!
Short distance today shamefully goes to Randy Guild with 9 miles. He may have even fudged!
The mix of brands today was superior. Spyders and sidecars along with regular trikes and bikes lit up the main street. It surely was something to behold. Thanks guys for coming out today!
