A new coordinator is needed

Post by John Kuhn »

Folks, I have had the pleasure of being the person who sceduled the rides for the South Central area for one and a half years.
I beleive it is time for me to retire and allow another to perform this job.
I have a list of the restuarants we frequent,if you are interested.
Mr. lee has the book with the sign in list.
Thank you for the approval I have received from many for the job done.
Sincerely,
John Kuhn
ps. My resignation is as of today.

Hang in there John, you do a great job. What would you do with your time if it wasn't for calling restaurants, sending post, and emails. Plus all the other fun things.

John:
If we don't get an eager volunteer, I can pick it up starting in November. I'll be around next week, but I'll out of town briefly towards the end of the month. (I'll miss October 19th and possibly the 26th.)

By the way, Bob left the book with me last Wednesday. I'll bring it on the 12th.

John,
Thanks for your efforts over the last year and a half to bring people together to ride and eat. It is such a simple thing to do but over time it gets to be a routine. The reward is seeing so many people out enjoying their rides and socializing a little, maybe getting a thanks now and again. Roger has volunteered to pick it up again but everyone could help him out.

Just a thought here from me, but it might be that people are reluctant to sign up to be The Ride Coordinator because it is such a long term commitment and all the responsibility is one that one person. But we have at our fingertips the greatest tool for coordinating and you are using it right now! This forum! So what if somebody just suggested a place to go next week and if nobody objected, that person would call the restaurant and ensure they know we are coming. No more obligation than that. Then somebody else could suggest a place for the next week, and somebody else for the following week. More people to share the load, no huge commitment for years and years, and if it was that simple more people might make suggestions.

Just a quick thought as you all work thru your transition.

Thanks for all you have done. Everyone appreciates your efforts and understands.

Jerry has a good suggestion. Sometimes we can make the restaurant selection more difficult than it needs to be. I think if everyone pitches in, you might be surprised at how much fun that could be. Sure there could be some bad experiences, but I will bet there will be a lot more good experiences than bad.

Until google maps stopped working the way I was using it, I tried to list all the places the Romeos have gone to eat and the dates we had been there. It stopped working about 4 months ago, but it still has a lot of restaurants listed. Note there are two pages, not all places show up on the first page. You can center the map on Wichita and zoom in!! This might help you select places to go. http://tinyurl.com/lxldjr

The South Central Romeo Group is important to all of the Romeos. Many people benefit from the Romeos activities. Ride Coordinator is not a hard job, but sometimes it is a thankless job. All of us need to say "thank you" a little more often.

Good luck, keep riding and be safe,
Roger
