Wednesday North Central ROMEO Lunch Ride for 3-23-11

Guys - Next week is Buckys' Eureka Springs outing and I'm unfortunately, not going to be able to make it this year so in lieu of that, we will have a North Central ride....I just don't know where yet.
I'm waiting for another day to pass so I can get a better handle on the weather. It's a bit transitional yet and I don't want another morning so chilly as last week for a long distance ride but I don't want to make it a short one either if the day turns out warm and nice. So....the temporary delay for the forcast to clear.
Be watching this site and as soon as I get it figured out you'll be the first to know right here!
OK guys....I think I've got a plan figured out but it's too late to implement it tonight, so be looking for the ride here on this site by tomorrow afternoon. Tuesday is not looking good for the guys going to Arkansas so we may have more Wednesday than I was originally counting on. Let's hope!
OK guys here we go, but be patient. Be on your best manners. Don't try to cut in and get your order in ahead of someone else. Just ask Louie to fill 'ya in on the details! BEWARE of the WAITRESS!!!

Here's the place.............................. Mo's Place

As always............ride careful, ride safe and I'll see you in Beaver. Richard

Guys - We had us a time today! I was going to give you a rundown but Joyce had such a good time I think I'll let her respond as to how her day went!

Well, I was given the honor of writing up the ride report since this was my first day on the trail so to speak since last summer.

Rich was called by the owner of Mo's place in Beaver to inform him that another ROMEO group would be there the same time we had planned.
My first thought was OH NO!
Now, this other ROMEO group wasn't any part of our ROMEO'S !

We arrived before noon and noticed a table of about 10 men that had to be the Romeo's.

Rich saunters up to these guys to size them up with his vest opened up for a full view of the Romeo shirt he was wearing asking these guys if they were the Romeo's.
It was almost like seeing a western movie where one cowboy saunters over to size up another cowboy....these guys were dressed in casual slacks and shirt and drove in on their four wheel horses and after they saw us, they knew we came in wearing leathers and on two wheeled horses.

After they saw how we were dressed they knew they were no match for us.....they answered Rich back in a high pitch voice almost women like.....yes, we are the Romeo's.
They showed their ID card that said they were indeed Romeo's. "Retired old men eating out", although one of their guys used the term 'Raunchy". Actually, I thought our guys looked younger!

We found out later these Romeo's were from Great Bend and meet at some restaurant, like we do, every Wednesday for lunch. They stick within a 40 mile radius, and yes, they drove their cars....does that give you a hint on how old they were?

Rich sauntered back to the table and sat down....Louie Bigler was sitting next to me, whom I think is the funniest guy alive.
He is always a pleasure to sit next to. If anybody is down and out like I have been lately, he is the guy who can bring you out of it.
Louie was on his best behavior because he rembered how the waitress accosted him the last time we were there when he gave her his order for lunch and she told him she wasn't up to him yet and he could just wait!
I can remember Louie in a state of shock saying...in a small child like voice ..okay!
The Hutchison group today asked if they could order and it was like a flash back from a year ago. She looked at them and said... " Not yet, can't you see I'm Busy"?
Doesn't anybody read Rich's notice. He forewarned you about this particular waitress!
Now, this lady is the only waitress for the entire restaurant and I'm sure over 50 people were there.
Here's her plan of action....She takes 2 to 4 orders, ONLY, at a time. Then.... she carries them to her husband....the cook.
The waitress took my order and three more and left ( remember no more than four orders at a time).
Louie, being on my right, didn't get his order taken this time because she had already taken her limit of four orders. He slumped in his chair, pulled down his hat over his eyes and said....I think she recognized me from last year!
Louie kept his ball cap on and pulled down over his eyes and his sun glasses on to be incognito in case she remembered him from that time long ago. He just knew that out of our group , he would for sure be the ONLY one not to be waited on.

Alan showed up telling us of his ride over, saying he didn't wear warm enough clothing for the day so he had to ride North a while then turn left for a while and do the same thing over and over to let alternate arms warm up from the strong and cold NW windblast.
Everyone had a story including Rich when he over shot Redwing. He claimed there was no sign on the corner identifying the Beaver turnoff. On the return trib back, he was right....there it was right on the corner we missed but positioned for the opposite flow of traffic. I guess they don't expect anyone heading West to go there.
As we got there, here comes another rider that turned right in front of us. Rich didn't recognize him until we got there and found out it was Leigh, aboard his Shadow instead of his bright yellow trike. Rich said "I bet they told him the wrong leave time again', but it wasn't so because he left Salina with the other guys this week, he just had to stop I guess for a phone call en'route.

In case you were wondering how many showed up today, we counted thirteen. Rich may tell you more about where they came from and what they rode when he posts the photos later.
Oh yeh, the menu....6.25 for salad, roast beef, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, green beans and a piece of bread and butter in lieu of a roll, coffee or tea and two brownies in a sandwich bag which the waitress came around and through on the table for dessert. Actually, a fine meal and reasonable service considering she worked all alone. I suggested the possibility that where would one get help from in Beaver, Kansas. That place alone would be demoralizing! Is her attitude really that far out of line considering......

Now for the photos....Rich almost forgot until I reminded him. That's what I do!
