It’s going to be extremely hot for this next Wednesday’s ride. Drink lot’s water!! That being said, I’m posting this as an “early bird” ride and lunch ride for those who want to brave the heat of the day.
Dutch Country cafe is more than a restaurant but is a bakery as well. I’ve gotten to know Sam, the manager there, who portrays a warm and welcoming personality.
If you’ve been here before then you already know that it specializes in a blend of traditional Pennsylvania Dutch cooking from recipes that have been handed down for generations, combined with modern methods that bring out the best in their home-style cooking & baking. Not to mention they serve a 100% organic coffee.
PS: I’ve been hearing some rumblings about “Romeo Fall Rendezvous” at Petit Jean State Park, south of Russellville Ark. Bob Savner, the coordinator for this event, has posted more details that are available in the “Riding Events” on our website. It’s not too early to start planning ahead.

NEW FLASH: For those of you who haven't heard . . . one of our ROMEO RIDER's: Jerry Berg (better known as "LOUD") with the SKC riders, had a stoke last week. Charlie Duffy gave John English the latest update on Jerry after his stroke last Sunday.
HERE IS THE LATEST FROM:
Gary: Jerry’s daughter called me yesterday and said that the doctors put in a brain stent late Tuesday. He has some speech problems and right side issues. The plan is to get him stable and capable of going to a re-hab facility.
He will be be needing all of our prayers!!!

Re: SEPTEMBER 9TH, BREAKFAST OR LUNCH, 9:00 AM, DUTCH COUNTRY CAFE, GARNETT, KS
There were a good number of riders this last Wednesday . . . 25-30 riders showed up to one of our favorite cafes. It was a good day to ride and, as usual, the food and service were great! "Dutch Country" has always been that way.
On the other hand, I came away from this ride learning about (a 20% auto gratuity to groups) for this restaurant, and not everyone was happy about it. This has happened before, and I thought this issue had been reconciled and put behind us. But unfortunately, to my surprise, it hadn’t!
I talked to the manager about this; he wasn’t very sympathetic toward my objecting to this matter and informed me that it’s a store policy. I was told that if we could not conform to this policy, we no longer needed to return. And so, on that happy note, it grieves me to say I will no longer be booking this cafe.
