Proposal - Introductory Biographies

Post by Kurt K »

Since folks come and go pretty quickly it has been hard to get to know what names go with what faces (or motorcycles), so I thought that a "Introductory Biography" post might be handy. New riders, current riders or past riders could write up a short (or long) bio for posting on here.

This is just an idea for y'all to kick around. It could be something like this.

My name is Kurt Keeler and am the current ride coordinator for NCK ROMEOs. I'm the youngest of 3 boys. Grew up in Des Moines IA, Independence MO, Dodge City KS, and Salina KS.

Graduated Salina South High School and then immediately moved to Phoenix AZ. Worked in a resort hotel and then in a cabinet shop. Moved to Prescott AZ. Moved to Baton Rouge LA and worked in a Godfather's Pizza. Moved to Wichita KS and worked in a warehouse. Moved to Salina and worked at Kwik-Shop and then the KATY railroad on a "tie gang".

Having run out of ideas, I joined the USAF in late 1982. Lackland AFB, Keesler AFB, Warren AFB, Osan AB, Bellows AFS and Tinker AFB. I left active duty and traveled to Raleigh NC (too many trees) and then to Fort Myers FL (too hot).

Moved back to Salina and worked for Weis American delivering CO2 and then servicing fire extinguishers.

Got hired on at Smoky Hill ANG Bombing Range and was there for 14 years until retirement.

After retiring I got a position with USDA/NRCS in Belleville KS (briefly) then worked for a couple of years as a janitor at Concordia high school.

Got hired as the "office girl" for the Meridian Way wind farm south of Concordia. Quit all of it in 2011.

Currently unmarried (widowed). Currently have a Honda Transalp 750, Suzuki GSX S1000 GT and Suzuki DR650.
