YUENGLING BREWERY & TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM

Post by shoresr »

Warren and Betsy took the group on an overnight trip to Pottsville, PA. The six of us, Warren, Betsy, Jeanmarie, Dave, Melissa and Roger had a wonderful time. It was a 210 mile round trip. Our first stop was at ROMA's restaurant in Pottsville where we had way more food than we could eat and no way to take it home. Make sure you look at Dave's Calzone, obviously enough for THREE people.

After lunch we toured the Yuengling Brewery. https://www.yuengling.com/visit-us/ This was their second brewery (the first one burnt), built into the side of a mountain where they dug a cave to store the beer. The underground cave remains a constant 55 degrees year round. Naturally, after the tour we got to sample their beers, three of which are only distributed in Pennsylvania. Everyone needs a Yuengling Beer Christmas ornament  Don't they Warren ;)

Betsy was from this area and took us on a tour of the town where we saw some of the beautiful old homes. Because motels were limited in Pottsville we stayed at a very nice Holiday Inn Express in Frackville, PA

On the way home we traveled through beautiful farm country and wonderful small towns of Pennsylvania. I can tell you there is going to be plenty of "COW CORN" this year.

A surprise and highlight of our trip was the TURKEY HILL EXPERIENCE in Columbia, PA. TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM did a real nice job of explaining how ice cream is made. It was fun for KIDS OF ALL AGES. https://www.turkeyhillexperience.com/ You could have all the ice cream you wanted and we even made a commercial.
